  67. MotelMAX is a full working business shareware program designed to manage
  68. Hotels, Motels, Resorts or Bed & Breakfasts.  It handles reservations,
  69. advance deposits, guest check-in / check-out and provides extensive
  70. reports on your business activity, also it's a powerful mail manager
  71. permitting up to 6 custom letters you can design for confirming
  72. reservations and deposits or for developing marketing strategies.  For
  73. group bookings, you can print a custom group confirmation form and group
  74. billing statement.

  76. The program comes preset with sample data so you can begin using MotelMAX
  77. right away.  You can customize the set-up as you go along by adding your
  78. own rooms and rates.  Later, refer to the file MOTELMAX.TXT for detailed
  79. instructions in setting up and using the program. Registered users
  80. receive a 110 page manual.  The manual contains an illustrated tutorial
  81. that manages in 30 minutes to train new users in running the program.

  134. Hardware Requirements

  137. This program requires an 80386SX based computer or better. It will not
  138. run on PC-XT or PC-AT computers.  You need to have DOS version 3.3 or
  139. higher.  It is recommended that you have DOS 5.00 or later and, at least,
  140. 4 megs of RAM.

  151. Printing the MotelMAX User Manual

  154. Once you complete the installation, you can print a copy of the MotelMAX
  155. User Manual (23 pages).  The manual is in a file called MotelMAX.TXT.

  160. MotelMAX - Misc
  161. ---------------

  163. Time Sensitive - MotelMAX is date and time sensitive.  Be sure your
  164. computer is set to the correct date and time.
  165.  
  166. Printer Set-up - MotelMAX prints some reports in condensed or compressed
  167. print mode.  It needs to know what kind of printer you are using and the
  168. correct printer codes to make your printer work in compressed mode.  If
  169. you have any trouble locating these codes, please contact us.  We have
  170. printer codes for several hundred printers, too many to list here.
  171. Configuring MotelMAX for your printer is very simple, once you know the
  172. printer codes.

  174. MotelMAX can be installed in any directory.  It does not create any
  175. subdirectories.  Press <F1> in most browse tables for important help
  176. information.

  210. DOS Installation
  211. ----------------

  213. Unzip the MotelMAX zip file into any directory on your hard drive.  We
  214. suggest creating a new directory called \MOTEL.  The DOS command to make
  215. a new directory is: MD \MOTEL <Enter>
  216.  
  217. The installation directory, \MOTEL, must be the default directory
  218. whenever you start the program.  To make \MOTEL your default directory,
  219. use the DOS change directory command, type: CD \MOTEL <Enter>
  220.  
  221. The program start command is: MOTELMAX <Enter>.
  222.  
  223. Use MOTELMAX as your user name and password.  In the registered version,
  224. you can setup your own user names.
  225.

  227. Trouble Shooting:
  228. ----------------
  229. If you have any problems installing and running the program, try this:
  230.  
  231. 1. Be sure you are in the \MOTEL directory before you start the program.
  232. The DOS command to change to the \MOTEL directory is: CD \MOTEL <Enter>.
  233.  
  234. 2. Check your CONFIG.SYS file.  Be sure the FILES=  setting is 45 or
  235. higher: FILES=45  If you change this setting in your CONFIG.SYS file,
  236. reboot your computer.
  237.  
  238. 3. After checking points 1 & 2, try restarting the program with this
  239. command: MOTELMAX NEW <Enter>.  The NEW switch will verify that all files
  240. are present.

  243. Windows 3.x and Windows 95
  244. --------------------------
  245. You can launch MotelMAX from an icon in any version of Windows.  First,
  246. install the program according to the DOS installation instructions.  For
  247. this example, we assume you have installed MotelMAX in a directory
  248. called C:\MOTEL.
  249.  
  250. Create an icon using the Windows Program Manager, select FILE | NEW and
  251. create a 'Program Item.'  Next edit the 'Program Item Properties' to read
  252. as follows:

  258. Now you only need to click on the icon to start MotelMAX.  When you exit
